A short afternoon trip from Piazza Mino in Fiesole to Ponte a Mensola.
The excursion starts from the large square where Leonardo da Vinci tested his flying machines, passes quarries of Pietra Serena, the stone used for centuries to embellish the florentine churches and palazzi, ending at the castle of Vincigliata.
The route winds along easy paths and mule tracks, through typical Tuscan woodland, revealing wonderful views of Florence and its surrounding hills.

Short walks in the hills around the city, all the walks take an afternoon and are of an easy standard.

Florence and her gardens:
a - The garden " di là d'Arno" the less travelled north bank of the Arno. Taking in the Bobolino gardens, " Parco della Rimembranza", the garden of Carraia, the Rampe (and in May the rose and Iris gardens), this is a half day walk from Porta Romana to Piazzale Michelangelo;
b - The Villa Gardens.villa Stibbert, the "Giardino dell'Orticultura", the garden of villa Ventaglio. A half day trip on the lower slopes of the hills that surround the old heart of the city

The walk from Ponte Vecchio to the Pitti Palace including the Boboli gardens, passes exceptional number of works of art and views over the city.

A short, half day excursion through the hills around Settignano. Winding through woods of cypresses, oaks and evergreen oaks, amongst herbs, hedges of laurel and tickets of juniper, we reach the castle of Vincigliata and then continue trough woodland back to the city.
